A cavy is commonly known as a guinea pig. Cavies cannot be defined as solely livestock or companion animal as they are unique and multi-purpose with any single breeder utilizing their herd for more than one purpose.
In the U.S., most of us consider cavies as cute cuddly pets. Cavies as a food source are an ancient tradition in many parts of South America and Africa. Domestic cavies produce high-quality meat, similar to chicken, with high protein content. The cavy market in other countries can help farmers get out of poverty.
A completed record book or summary sheet and a show sponsor thank you letter must be turned in for you to show your animal.
