Cupcake Decorating Contest Rules

This Contest is for youth age 8 by 1 September 2024 and is designed to develop skills in food safety, and decorating skills. Safe preparation practices and good food hygiene are primary goals.
  • Entry Fee $10.00.
  • Individual contest with Primary, Junior, and Senior age divisions.
  • Fair will provide 6 cupcakes, frosting, and cake display board.
  • Dress Code: Official Dress is Not Required. Participants Will Not have any means of identification as to their name, club, chapter or community. You are Required to wear black pants or skirt, short or long sleeve shirt that fits close to the arms, close-toed shoes with backs or boots, hair should be pulled-back, tied-back, or cap worn. Aprons should also be worn.
  • Judges reserve the right to disqualify anyone for unsanitary behavior.
  • Check-in and set up begins at the posted time when you turn in a contest thank you letter, You will receive a participant number and last-minute instructions.
  • Sharing is not permitted. Each contestant must have their own supplies.
  • Each participant will:
  • Furnish their own table (3’ x 6’ or 2 smaller), bowls, spatulas, spoons, piping bags, tips, dye, or any supplies needed. Help will be provided to open and step up tables only. Any and all other setup required will be done by the participants only.
  • Bring any and all fondants, candies, and/or decorations to be used. All decorations must be edible. Decorations must not be pre-assembled and fondants un-dyed at the start of the contest.
  • No one except exhibitors will be permitted in the decorating area until after judging.
  • Exhibitors will be observed from the time of setup until the cupcakes are submitted for judging and their respective area is cleaned.
  • Cakes can be decorated individually or as a whole.
  • Each participant will present their cupcakes to the panel of judges at the conclusion of the contest.
  • AWARDS - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be given in each age division. Best of Show plaque & cash awards may be awarded

Required

  • Clean, neat, safe and dressed in appropriate attire
  • Black pants or skirt
  • Short sleeve shirt or long sleeve that fits close to the arm
  • Closed-toed shoes with backs or boots
  • Hair should be pulled-back or tied-back and/or under a cap or hat
  • Apron should be worn
  • Nothing that identifies you or your club/chapter
