GENERAL REGULATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  1. The SRF General Rules and Regulations apply to this Division and Shows.
  2. Health Requirements 5C-4.0017 & 5c-4.004 Poultry, Domestic Fowl
  3. General Rules: All animals must remain in the possession of exhibitor and in the area during the feeding period or until released by show committee.  Animals will be checked periodically by FFA advisors, county agents, 4-H leaders and/or board members. Early removal of exhibits may result in loss of ribbons and future showing privileges.

SMALL ANIMAL DIVISION RULES

  1. Entry Fees: $20.00 4-H/FFA Members, $5.00 4-H Cloverbud Members
  2. CLOVERBUDS: Refer to 4-H Cloverbud rules and regulations.
  3. All small animals must be owned by the exhibitor 60 days prior to fair entry. Leased or borrowed animals will not be permitted.
  4. Small Animals will check-in in the arena. At check-in Each Exhibitor Must Be Present with Their Animal, Completed Project Summary, and Cage or Coop Their Own Animal. Parents are not allowed to check in for exhibitors. The Fair Association will furnish exhibition pens or coops.
  5. Exhibitors must provide feed and water containers (for each cage) and feed and water animal(s) daily. Containers must be attached to cage. DO NOT FEED ANIMALS THAT DO NOT BELONG TO YOU. Contact Superintendent or committee member for assistance.
  6. Animals may only be removed from cages with permission of the Superintendent, with the exception of pre-judging grooming.

SHOWMANSHIP CONTESTS: Poultry

  1. Scores: 90-100 Blue, 80-89 Red, 70-79 White and 69 or below Green.
  2. 4-H Cloverbuds may participate in these contests for experience and will be awarded a green ribbon.

AWARDS: Rabbit & Poultry
Small Animals will be judged on the Modified Danish System. Blue, Red and White ribbons will be awarded to recognized purebred breeds and/or varieties, except for Cloverbuds which will receive a green ribbon. Red or White ribbons will be awarded to unrecognized breeds and/or varieties, except for Cloverbuds, which will receive a green ribbon. White ribbons will be awarded to all mixed breed entries, except for Cloverbuds, which will receive a green ribbon.

SMALL ANIMAL POSTER CONTESTS
Topic may change each year.  __________ current year topic. Posters should made on a large poster or foam board (16 x 22 or larger size) and must be of education value. The purpose of the posters is to teach exhibitors and public about different aspects of the rabbit or poultry project. Art work must be that of an exhibitor, but parents are encouraged to help guide their child especially the Primary and Cloverbud divisions. Posters may be turned in at entry. Write your name and age as of Sept 1st on the back of the posters. Posters will be divided into 4 divisions Cloverbud, Primary, Junior and Senior. Posters will be displayed after they are judged.

POULTRY SHOW RULES

    1. Each exhibitor may enter a total of 8 divided into the following classes:
      6 Fancy Exhibition Chickens (Large Fowl/Bantam)
      2 Commercial Egg Production Hens
      1 Pen of 3 Pullets
      2 Exhibition Ducks
    2. The Judge has the right to, NOT handle any bird to determine placement for judging or due to aggressive.
    3. Enter only fancy or best producing poultry by the division listed and age, cockerel, pullet, cock or hen.  No guineas, quail, turkeys, peafowl, swans, geese, pigeons, pheasants, ostrich, emus, rheas or other exotic poultry or waterfowl may be entered.
      FANCY EXHIBITION CHICKEN DIVISION: Six (6) Pure Bred Large Fowl and/or Bantam Chickens recognized in the American Poultry Association and /or American Bantam Association Standard of Perfection may be shown.  Commercial Egg Production hens entered in Fancy Exhibition will not receive a blue ribbon or be considered for Best of Breed or Best of Class. Refer to RULE 5 for a list of breeds and classes.
      EXHIBITION DUCK DIVISION: Two (2) Pure Bred Ducks recognized in the American Poultry Association and/or American Bantam Association Standard of Perfection may be shown. Refer to RULE 5 for a list of breeds and classes.
      COMMERCIAL EGG PRODUCTION HEN DIVISION: Two (2) Production Large Fowl hens of the following breeds may be entered, White Leghorns, Rhode Island Reds, and Sex Links.
      PULLET MANAGEMENT CONTEST: To enter this contest pullets must be pre-ordered in September by contacting Thelma Thompson and picked-up in October. Exhibitors will register the best of 3 pullets as a pen in January and show this pen of 3 in March. Pullets must have been purchased from the Fair Association to compete in this contest. Pullets not purchased from the Fair Association will receive a participation ribbon only.
    4. AWARDS
      a. An Overall Grand and Reserve Champion Poultry will be selected, based on overall qualities determined by the judge according to American Poultry Association and American Bantam Association Standards of Perfection. Poultry entries included in the Commercial Class will not be considered for these awards.
      b. Rosettes will be given to all Champion and Reserve Champion Class winners listed below:
