4H Cloverbud Division Rules & Regulations

  1. The SRF General Rules and Regulations apply to this Division and Shows.
  2. Cloverbuds are 4-H members who are 5 years old as of September 1, 2012 the CURRENT 4-H program year but not 8 years old. 4-H members who are NOT 8 years old by September 1, 2012 of the current 4-H program year CAN NOT participate in Large Animal Projects.
  3. 4-H Cloverbuds are eligible for participation in the Creative Life Skills and Small Animal Divisions (Rabbit & Poultry). 4-H Cloverbud entries will be judged and will be awarded green ribbons of participation. 4-H Cloverbuds may participate for a green ribbon in Rabbit and Poultry Showmanship for experience.
  4. See Specific Show Division for Rules and Regulations.
  5. Small Animal Division:  Entry Fee- $5.00  in both Rabbit and Poultry.  A show sponsor thank you letter, card, drawing, or picture is required. 
  6. Creative Life Skills Division: No entry fee or preregistration required.
  7. Complete a 4-H Cloverbud project summary sheet on each Small Animal Division project. Creative Life Skills – No Summary Sheet.
  8. We understand that most children in this age group are not capable of completing a detailed summary of their project.  Through the assistance of early childhood educators we have devised a method for each child to explain and/or describe some aspect of their project.  Each child will draw or take pictures of their animal and if they are capable of writing or just want to try they have been provided a space to scribe.  The first, then, next, finally format we use is very similar to the methods used by school teachers in developing writing skills.  Also, we have provided a space for you to help them answer 2 questions about their project experience.

Project Animal Record Books

Print Market Animal Record Book (Fat, Feeder, Swine)

Print Other Animal Record Book (All Other Animals)

Print Cloverbud Summary Sheet

Mandatory Project Record Books:

  • All animal projects entering the fair will have a completed project record book that will be presented to the show committee check-in station.
  • At the check-in station all record books will be examined for completeness
  • If a record book is found to be incomplete, the exhibitor and his/her animal WILL BE diverted out of line to an area where they may complete their record book.
  • If the project record book is complete, it will be rubber stamped as approved, and the exhibitor’s hand will be stamped for entry into the scale house, horse show or dairy/small animal barns.
  • Exhibitors are required to write a thank you letter to the sponsor of their show.
  • One project record book will be completed for each animal project/division entered into the fair.
  • If your are competing in the record book contest, you must indicate this on your project record book. Refer to Optional Record Book Contest Rules.

How Can I Participate?

Participants in the Suwannee River Youth livestock Show and Sale are bonafide members of 4-H, FFA and FCCLA youth development programs in Dixie, Gilchrist, Levy Counties Florida.

Participants of the Suwannee River Fair must be bonafide members in good standing of 4-H, FFA or FCCLA clubs or chapters of Dixie, Gilchrist or Levy Counties.  Verification of membership qualifications is the sole responsibility of the advisors and agents and implies member compliance with national, state and local membership rules and policy. Such membership is certified by the signature of the appropriate FFA or FCCLA Advisor, 4-H Agent and or 4-H Leader on the appropriate entry form.
